About the Artist
Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »Stony Brook Pottery studio is located in northeastern New York in the Adirondack Mountains. Nestled in the back of an ambiguous barn is the small studio where Nancy Rendinaro makes all of her pieces.
Nancy began more than a decade ago throwing simple pieces to fill the family’s kitchen. The pieces were constantly the conversation of visitors, and requests soon followed. It wasn’t long before Nancy was asked by family and friends alike for their own special gift.
After much encouragement she began to show (and sell) her work at pottery guilds and craft fairs. However the large commission fees and excess of imported products found at fairs pushed Nancy to open Stony Brook Gallery. The Gallery is an artist co-op where many local artists sell their work commission free. Nancy loves to explore new and creative ways of doing things. Mixing her own glazes, playing with ‘organic’ shapes or even raku firings, Nancy loves the experience.
More recently under the encouragement of her daughter, StonyBrookPottery(.com) was born. That means that now you can get your own piece of beautifully hand-crafted pottery directly from Nancy herself. Individual piece make great gifts, or you can order a complete set to make your dinner ware stand out.
